You made a resolution to get healthy in the New Year. Maybe you’re on track to meet your health goals. Maybe you've given up. Whatever the case, you can do your body some good by joining with the Hispanic Federation to dance and get healthy at our weekly Zumbando en el Barrio class at the Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center in East Harlem. Every Thursday at 6:30pm, you are invited to come dance with trained Zumba instructors and improve your heart health, flexibility and muscle tone while dancing to a variety of Latin musical styles.
“With so many health issues facing our communities, we know that we have to promote exercise,” said Hispanic Federation Senior VP and Zumba-certified instructor Frankie Miranda. “But people sometime get bored with going to the gym or taking a walk. You’re never bored in a Zumba class. The music is great, the routines are easy to learn, and they build on the musical traditions that many people in our community already know. These classes at the Julia de Burgos Center are a great way to get healthy while having fun."
Classes are free and open to the public and run through March 2nd at the Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center, 1680 Lexington Avenue (Between East 105th and East 106th Streets) in Manhattan. For more information about Zumbando en el Barrio, please contact 1-866-432-9832.
