Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) provides free civil legal services to low-income New Yorkers, specifically, immigrant youth and families, older adults, veterans, individuals seeking public benefits, microentrepreneurs, children and families. Since 2011, VOLS Immigration Project has provided immigration legal services to help immigrant youth and families access safety, employment, and other opportunities. We partner with 22 schools and community organizations to identify youth needing immigration legal services; our team trains and supervises pro bono volunteer attorneys to significantly increase capacity. Last year, we provided legal services on over 400 matters for 332 immigrant clients, benefiting an additional 500 household members.
