Through progressive research and advocacy, the North Carolina Justice Center (NCJC) works to eliminate poverty in our state by ensuring every household in the state has access to the resources, services, and fair treatment it needs to achieve economic security. Our Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project (IRRP) protects and defends the rights of low-income immigrants and refugees statewide. The project’s multifaceted work includes legal representation in navigating the complex immigration system, protecting immigrants and their families from abuses in the public and private sectors, and playing a coordinating, convening and supporting role to engage many pro-migrant and pro-refugee organizations, allies, and leaders in advancing public policies that improve the well-being and economic security of immigrant families. (IRRP 2022 Budget: $789,117, NCJC 2022 Budget: $6,914,554)
