NEW Pride Agenda

The mission of the NEW Pride Agenda (NPA) is to advance the economic, health, racial, and gender identity justice needs of marginalized LGBTQ+ individuals.

About the Organization:
Formed in January 2019, because of the dissolution of the Empire State Pride Agenda (ESPA), former leaders of ESPA, and new emerging leaders created NPA with the clear mission of focusing education and advocacy on the most marginalized members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including Black and Latinx Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming/Non-Binary (TGNCNB) people.

In the last year, NPA has grown from a voluntary start-up to a facile, strategic, impactful statewide LGBTQ+ non-profit with a diverse and mission driven board of directors and staff.

Below are some accomplishments gained over the last year:

Secured a historic $3 million dollars for Transgender and Gender Non-Binary New Yorkers and advocated for legislation creating a statewide Trans Wellness & Equity Fund.
Led NYS advocacy mandating over 340,000 state employees to receive Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA) cultural competency training—a first in the nation.
Helped repeal of the ‘Walking While Trans Ban;’ Pass the Gender Expression Non Discrimination Act, the Lorena Borjas Transgender and Non Binary Wellness and Equity Fund Act, and the Affirming Gender Identities in Utilities Act.
