Hispanic Federation: We Stand with Sexual Abuse Survivors and are Resolute in our Commitment to Farmworkers

New York, NYToday news broke about the allegations involving the late César Chávez and how for many years he abused women and girls. Below is a statement from Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation.

“We are deeply shaken by the allegations of sexual abuse against César Chávez, and we unequivocally stand with the survivors. As an organization rooted in the dignity, empowerment, and protection of the Latino community, we are clear: no legacy, title, or historical contribution places anyone beyond accountability.

We must recognize that this moment is profoundly painful for our community, but the alleged actions of one person do not define or diminish the broader farmworker movement and its profound impact on this nation. Hispanic Federation remains resolute in our commitment to our core values of dignity, justice, and supporting our most vulnerable. We will continue to uplift and advocate for the millions of farmworkers who have given their labor, health, and, in many cases their lives, to sustain American families.

Our mission has always been to advance the well-being and civil rights of Latino communities across America. That means protecting the vulnerable and ensuring that justice and dignity are accessible for all.”
