Hispanic Federation Stands with AG James and Condemns Weaponization of the Justice System

New York, NY – Below is a statement from Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation regarding last week’s arraignment of Attorney General Letitia James:

“The arraignment of Attorney General Letitia James marks another example of how the federal government is weaponizing the justice system to punish elected officials that are standing up for truth and accountability. This renewed effort by the government to misuse the power of federal agencies to intimidate and silence those who fight for their constituents is setting a dangerous precedent that only serves to sew distrust and waste resources that should be used for more pressing matters.

Hispanic Federation has worked alongside Attorney General James throughout the years to fight for equality in New York and we have seen first-hand her unrelenting commitment to defend the values New Yorkers hold dear: integrity, commitment to justice, and courage to stand on the side of the people. AG James has stood with our communities over the years, and we are honored to stand with AG James today. Her leadership has strengthened trust in our public institutions and expanded protections for the most vulnerable New Yorkers. We stand firmly with Attorney General James as the facts and the law are on her side.”
