Relief will be distributed through trusted partners on the ground to secure access to food, water, and additional everyday needs

New York, NY – Today, Hispanic Federation, the nation’s largest Latino nonprofit membership organization, announced a $100,000 Emergency Relief Fund, Ayuda a los Pueblos: Venezuela Disaster Relief, to support survivors of the devastating twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026. Hispanic Federation is initially partnering with Hispanic Federation member agency AID for Life, a Venezuelan lead direct service provider with strong connections to trusted groups on the ground to mobilize immediate humanitarian assistance including food, clean water, emergency shelter, and critical supplies for affected communities across Venezuela.

The back-to-back earthquakes, measuring magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, struck northwestern and central Venezuela and are among the most powerful seismic events to hit the country in over a century. The disaster has caused widespread destruction across Caracas, La Guaira, and surrounding regions, with more than 600 confirmed deaths, 4,300 injuries, and over 40,000 people reported missing. The U.S. Geological Survey has warned the death toll could rise significantly. The earthquakes compounded an already dire humanitarian situation in the country.

“The Venezuelan people are facing unimaginable pain and loss. These earthquakes have shattered communities already struggling under years of hardship, and the road to recovery will be long. Hispanic Federation stands in unwavering solidarity with Venezuela and the millions of Latino families across our nation who are desperately worried about loved ones back home. This $100,000 emergency fund is our immediate commitment, but it is only the beginning. We will work tirelessly to ensure that food, water, shelter, and hope reach those who need it most,” Frankie Miranda, President and CEO, Hispanic Federation.

Hispanic Federation will identify and fund partners with strong on-the-ground networks and will raise additional funds to address ongoing needs as they arise.

“Venezuelans are in dire straits in the aftermath of the two earthquakes and we are doing all that we can to serve people during this humanitarian crisis. The outpouring of support that we have received so far has been helpful in mobilizing critical resources, but the road to recovery is long and we are committed to serving impacted Venezuelans every step of the way. Together we can work to mitigate the overwhelming harm and trauma that we are seeing on the ground,” said Jesus Aguais Founder and President for Aid for Life.

In the meantime, Hispanic Federation has also called on the Department of Homeland Security to re-instate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for the hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans in the Unites States who are at risk of being deported to Venezuela in the aftermath of this catastrophe.

Hispanic Federation has a long history of mobilizing rapid relief for disaster-affected Latino communities at home and abroad, including major efforts responding to natural disasters in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and other countries. The organization calls on the broader philanthropic community, corporations, and individuals to contribute to the Ayuda a los Pueblos: Venezuela Disaster Relief Fund.
