Hispanic Federation Demands a Fair Budget Prioritizing What Americans Need

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives voted today on a continuing resolution bill that exacerbates the struggles people face in the United States and fails to include bipartisan input. Below is a statement from Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation, in response to the upcoming vote:

“This heavily partisan bill fails to meet the pressing needs of American families and prioritizes politics over the will of the people. The previous enactment of destructive cuts to healthcare combined with the failure to extend enhanced subsidies in the Affordable Care Act would leave millions of people struggling to access basic medical services.

Instead of prioritizing healthcare access, or lowering costs, the looming government shutdown threatens to leave federal workers without paychecks, cut critical support for small businesses, and delay essential healthcare and benefits for families. America needs real solutions, not political theater.

The endless cycle of continuing resolutions has strangled resources and created uncertainty for the American people. We deserve the stability of full appropriations funding – not more shoestring budgets and damaging cuts.”

Hispanic Federation calls on the Senate to abandon this reckless approach, protect American families, and engage in genuine bipartisan negotiations.
