Celebrating 15 years of CREAR Futuros, this year’s National Training brought together students, mentors, and campus liaisons from over 15 schools to empower the next generation of Latino leaders through community, connection, and opportunity.
The inspiring three days in New York City included:
Day 1: Welcome & Rooted Connections
Day one kicked off with incredible energy as we welcomed attendees from across the country.
- Reflecting on Our Mission: We began by exploring the inspiration behind CREAR Futuros and its vital role in advancing Hispanic Federation’s commitment to student success.
- Closing the Achievement Gap: Through open conversations about the first-generation college experience, mentorship, language, and culture, we discussed how building meaningful connections directly impacts Latino college enrollment, retention, and graduation rates.
- Community & Culture: Attendees connected over shared experiences, setting the stage for a transformative training week.

Day 2: Skills, Care & A Celebration on the Water
Day two focused on actionable skill-building, professional growth, and honoring our milestone anniversary.
- Strengthening the Mentorship Toolkit: Sessions tackled essential skills for supporting mentees, including emotional intelligence and applying the Community of Care Model to build supportive, thriving student environments.
- Professional Headshots: Mentors, mentees, and liaisons received free professional headshots to support their career and leadership journeys.
- Quinceañera Cruise 🚢: To mark 15 incredible years of CREAR Futuros, we ended the evening sailing around New York City, celebrating a decade and a half of impact, mentorship, and community.

Day 3: Sustaining Impact & Looking Ahead
We wrapped up our final day with inspiring commitments for the year ahead.
- Interactive Workshops: Attendees engaged in group facilitation exercises, gained valuable insights from seasoned mentors, and set intentional goals for their upcoming campus programs.
- A Lasting Legacy: While the event has come to a close, the work is just beginning. As attendees return to their respective campuses, they carry forward the tools and connections to drive real change.
