Hispanic Federation Welcomes Incoming NYC Officials and Commits to Working Alongside Leadership to Improve Quality of Life for All New Yorkers

New York, NY –Today, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, and Comptroller Mark Levine were sworn in during a public ceremony at City Hall. Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation, issued the following statement:

“As Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, and Comptroller Mark Levine take their oaths of office today, Hispanic Federation extends our heartfelt best wishes to them, the New York City Council, and all incoming city elected officials who will work to improve the quality of life and broaden opportunities for all New Yorkers.

This moment symbolizes more than a new chapter – it represents the aspirations of millions of New Yorkers who cast their votes in a desire to have their voices heard and ensure that those elected in November will be responsive to the concerns of its people. The Latino community, which comprises nearly 30% of the city’s population, clearly stated on election night and in multiple polls that city leadership must focus on easing the financial burdens and improving the quality of life for working families.

Hispanic Federation stands ready to work alongside city leadership to build a more just, equitable, and affordable metropolis. We will be partners in progress and accountability.

With the formidable challenges facing the Latino community and contentious attacks by the Federal administration, it is imperative elected officials and New Yorkers come together in 2026 to make sure that this city continues to be a place where everyone can live safely, raise a family, and have the opportunity to thrive.”
