New York, NY – This week marks the 100-day mark for the Trump administration. Below is a statement from Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation, reacting to the Trump administration’s first 100 days.

“The first 100 days of any presidency set the stage for what’s to come, and in Trump’s first 100 days, we have seen executive power used to violate Constitutional rights while making life more difficult for the Latino community. The unfortunate truth is that many of the Trump administration’s executive orders have had a disproportionate negative impact on Latinos, particularly as it relates to immigration, voting rights, and pocketbook concerns. In addition, multiple polls are showing how Latino voters are saying the country is heading in wrong direction, clearly signifying that D.C. needs a course correction.  Hispanic Federation is working closely with our partners to push back on the onslaught of executive action and to ensure that Latinos are heard.

In the face of mass deportations that target previously safe communities, we are stepping up with our partners to equip our communities with the tools they need to challenge unconstitutional immigration actions, keep families together, and protect other essential rights for our community.

In the face of new efforts to suppress voting rights, we are both challenging unconstitutional efforts to curtail our existing voting rights while also continuing to reach out to our friends, family, and neighbors to ensure that people understand the importance of staying civically involved.

In the face of a cost-of-living crisis that is only being exacerbated by executive action, we are doubling down on workforce development, food relief, and other programs that address our community’s pocketbook concerns.

Over the past 100 days, the administration has shown us that they are not prioritizing the concerns of Americans, especially Latinos. Instead, the Trump administration is advancing policies that hinder work across all communities, such as the attack on nonprofits and the freezing of federal funds. Latinos are an economic and political powerhouse for the nation and disregarding our community today will only hinder economic growth and lead to political repercussions tomorrow.”
