Latino Leaders Day is an exciting opportunity for our CREAR Futuros mentors and mentees to hear from and engage with Latino executives across a wide array of professions. Our Latino Leaders Day reached new heights when our cohort of CREAR college students met with Delta Air Lines' Latino executives at JFK International Airport in early December. The students were visibly engaged and inspired by the dynamic airport operations they experienced and the stories shared by Delta's executives.

The connection was visible. The day progressed with an in-depth, special access tour of Delta’s recently expanded Terminal 4. Students visited the air flight control center, were given a tour of a Delta airplane cockpit by an Aircraft Mechanic and Maintenance Analyst, and indulged in the free Starbucks coffee at the exclusive Delta Sky Club. “Cool” was not just the most used word of that day, it signified the awe-inspiring impact that Latino leadership modeling can have on young people.

Our CREAR Futuros students gained insight into a wide variety of professional airline careers, and learned a great deal more about career mentorship and internship opportunities at Delta Air Lines. As we journeyed back to Manhattan, listening to all the student chatter about career possibilities and aspirations, it was clear to everyone why this work is so important. We are committed to continue working with partners like Delta Air Lines in the months and years to come to help our youth keep climbing higher!
