New York, NY. Today, Hispanic Federation President José Calderón issued the following statement on the passing of SEIU-32BJ President Héctor Figueroa:
"The Board of Directors, member agencies, and staff of Hispanic Federation join in mourning the unexpected passing of SEIU-32BJ President, Héctor Figueroa. Héctor always put working people first, whether he was fighting for a fair contract for his members, organizing against anti-immigrant policies, or helping to rebuild Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. He wasn't just an important and transformative labor leader in our city, he was a thoughtful and committed ally of working families and immigrants everywhere. We extend our condolences to Héctor's family, especially his wife and children. QEPD."
