For Immediate Release: November 8, 2022

“Election Day has once again exemplified how the Latino community is not a monolith, but a mosaic of different cultures, ideas, and identities. Latinos are not squarely blue or red, they are driven to the ballot box by a variety of issues that affect Americans from all walks of life. From reproductive justice and inflation to immigration and our country’s response to COVID-19, Latinos are eager to elect leaders who can address these issues and the urgent needs of our community. But most importantly, Latinos are listening to those candidates that are speaking to them in culturally and linguistically competent ways, regardless of party affiliation. I not only saw this eagerness in voters, but Hispanic Federation canvassers who knocked on more than 10,000 doors, called and texted over 1.2 million voters, and spoke with thousands of Latino voters across the country to ensure Latinos had the information they needed to cast their vote.

It’s time for elected leaders to wake up and realize that mobilizing the fastest growing voter bloc requires time, effort, and a clear plan of action to support Latino families and the community at large. Our work is far from over, and we can’t do it alone. We urge the philanthropic community to double down on support for year-round Latino voter engagement – including during non-election years – so we can help instill an unwavering culture of voting in our communities.”
