Statement on the Inauguration of Dr. Frank Sánchez as President of Rhode Island College

Hispanic Federation joins the Rhode Island College community today in celebrating the inauguration of its tenth president, Dr. Frank Sánchez. Statement on SCOTUS Nominee Neil Gorsuch

Hispanic Federation strongly opposes the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court of the United States. The Supreme Court is the ultimate arbiter of the United States Constitution. It's justices must guarantee every person equal protection under the law. We have serious reservations about Judge Gorsuch's ability to put aside partisan ideology to dispense justice.

Statement on Commutation of Oscar Lopez-Rivera

We stand with the people of Puerto Rico and hundreds of civil rights organizations in thanking President Obama for commuting the sentence of Oscar Lopez-Rivera, the nation’s longest serving political prisoner. Mr. Lopez-Rivera has been in federal prison for nearly half his life, serving 35 years of a sentence that far exceeds the crime that he was charged with.

First-Ever FUERZAfest Orlando Honors Pulse Victims, Celebrates Love, Unity, and Resiliency

Hispanic Federation, the nation’s premier Latino nonprofit membership organization concluded its first-ever FUERZAfest Orlando on Sunday. The five-day festival, which ran from December 7-11, focused on the Latino LGBTQ+ community, using artistic expression as a means of addressing a myriad issues affecting Latino LGBTQ+ individuals. FUERZAfest Orlando was dedicated to the victims and survivors of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy.

Hispanic Federation Mobilizes 150,000 Latino Voters in Florida and Other Key States to Get Out and Vote

Hispanic Federation announced today that it is mobilizing 150,000 Latino voters in Florida, New York and Connecticut in the final days before Election Day 2016. More than 100 volunteers and staff are participating in an innovative, non-partisan Get Out The Vote (GOTV) campaign that includes traditional door-knocking combined with new texting operations focused on making sure Latinos take advantage of early voting, know their voting places and rights, and vote on Election Day.
