HF Joins Macy's Operation Happy Children PDF Print E-mail

On December 2, 2014, Macy's once again made the holiday season come alive for some of New York’s neediest children through Operation Happy Children – an effort that brings the wonders of the North Pole to Macy’s flagship store on 34th Street in New York City. The Hispanic Federation helped bring 60 preschool children and their parents to enjoy an unforgettable trip through Macy’s famous Santaland, where they were greeted by Santa elves, provided a healthy breakfast, participated in Christmas Carol sing-alongs, and received special gifts from Santa himself.

November Means Thanksgiving…and Diabetes Awareness Month PDF Print E-mail

Every November we celebrate Thanksgiving. However, November is also Diabetes Awareness Month. With only a week to go before everybody’s favorite food-centered holiday, HF is reflecting on the fact that it would be almost impossible to find a family untouched by diabetes. During your Thanksgiving celebrations (and meals), we encourage you to not only give thanks, but to also think about your health and your own risk for diabetes.

This week the Hispanic Federation, along with national partners Advocates for Youth, California Latinas for Reproductive Justice, Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity & Reproductive Rights, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health and Voto Latino launched the national I Am/ Yo Soy campaign. The campaign is dedicated to ending our community’s silence about sex education, birth control, abortion and young parenting. 

December 1 is World AIDS Day – Come Celebrate With Us! PDF Print E-mail

World AIDS Day is held annually on December 1st. It is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. HF will be hosting a World AIDS Day observance at the Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center in East Harlem starting at 3:00 p.m.. All are welcome!
