Hunger Relief Campaign PDF Print E-mail

Hurricane Sandy left tens of thousands of New Yorkers without food, power and shelter.  In response, HF dedicated its 2012 year-end "Lucha Contra el Hambre" Hunger Relief campaign to provide thousands of meals to Latinos living in the hardest hit communities. Yet many individuals continue to be affected, and food pantries in our area are stretched thin.  To continue with our effort, HF and Hunger Relief sponsor Ford Motor Company Fund are launching a Hunger Relief Call to Action to pick up canned goods during the week of February 25, 2013.

As we have done in the past, the Hispanic Federation will arrange a convenient time to pick-up the canned goods collected using our Ford "Partners on the GO" van.  To highlight your company's involvement, we will record your participation and post it on our website as well
as other social networks such as Facebook.  You will also be able to track the location of the Partners on the Go van as it picks up food.

If you want to learn more about HF's "Lucha Contra el Hambre" Hunger Relief campaign or how you can become a collection site, please email Lucia Perez Bernhardt or call at 212-233-8955 ext 121. Thank you for your support!

The devastation left by Hurricane Sandy in New York City, with tens of thousands of New Yorkers left without food, power and shelter, has given new urgency to the Hispanic Federation’s end of year Hunger Relief campaign.  From November to December 2012, HF will redouble its efforts to aid New Yorkers who are hungry, focusing on the immediate needs of Latinos who live in the hardest hit communities, including Staten Island, Far Rockaway in Queens and Long Beach in Nassau County, as well as continuing to provide food to our nine food pantries operated by member agencies throughout the state.Notwithstanding the fact that that the Hispanic Federation itself has been affected given its location in lower Manhattan, HF staff is working closely with our Fight Against Hunger partner Ford Motor Company Fund to start pick-ups of canned goods which are collected by corporations, employee associations and individuals.
