Comcast Awards HF $50,000 for Digital Voter Registration Project

The Comcast Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Comcast Corporation, is partnering with the Hispanic Federation to increase the civic participation of Latinos in elections via a $50,000 gift to help support HF’s new Digital Voter Registration Project.  This new digital platform will compliment HF’s “on the ground” Civic Participation initiative by providing individuals with an easily accessible and interactive website that will contain downloadable voter registration forms and nonpartisan civic engagement content, available in both English and Spanish.  A media campaign will promote the initiative in targeted Latino communities in New York State, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The Digital Voter Registration will provide additional services via links to online resources on voting and civic engagement, and reminders of voter registration, primary and voting deadlines by state. For Comcast and HF, the hope is that through the Digital Voter Registration Project, Latino populations will participate more fully in civic society and in our democratic processes.

The Comcast Foundation began in June 1999 and since that time has given more than $77 million to non-profits, including for digital literacy efforts that help ensure all U.S. citizens can use broadband to achieve their full potential. Comcast has also been one of the Federation’s strongest supporters since 2006. Thanks to Comcast for their support of this important and innovative initiative!
