Remove Barriers for Health Insurance Enrollment for Low-Income Older Adults in COVID-19 Pandemic

Hispanic Federation is proud to join Justice in Aging and other organizations in calling for the Department of Health and Human Services to take action to remove barriers and to streamline enrollment in health insurance coverage for low-income older adults and people with disabilities who are at highest risk of serious illness and death from COVID-19.

Limited English Proficiency Need In-language COVID-19 Resources

Hispanic Federation joined in calling the Federal Housing Finance Agency to provide in-language resources to borrowers with limited English proficiency that aid them in understanding what relief is available and how to obtain it. Immigrant communities are likely to be hit especially hard by the public health and economic impacts of this crisis.

Nearly 500 Organizations Sign-on for Child Care Funding in Next COVID-19 Relief Package

Hispanic Federation joined the National Women's Law Center and nearly 500 other organizations across the U.S. in support of asking Congress to provide at least $50 billion in dedicated child care funding. child care is an essential need for millions of children and families, and it will continue to be the backbone of our economy both during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, but only if additional funding is provided to keep it afloat.

Solidarity Statement Supporting Communities Targeted for Hate Related to COVID-19 Pandemic

Hispanic Federation joined 130 organizations in standing in solidarity with Asian American and immigrant communities confronting a terrifying spike in COVID-19 related hate incidents. Elected leaders must condemn this hate and ensure communities have the resources necessary to combat this rise in hate and xenophobia.

Concern Over OFCCP National Interest Exemption

On March 17, 2020, the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs made a decision to temporarily exempt and waive certain affirmative action obligations connected to supply, service, and construction federal contracts specifically to provide coronavirus relief. Hispanic Federation joined 55 other civil rights and worker rights organizations in opposing the suspension of crucial civil rights protections.

International Refugee Assistance Project Letter on Extending Visa Validity for Immigrants and Refugees During COVID-19 Pandemic

Hispanic Federation is proud to join International Refugee Assistance Project in urging for the protection of refugees and individuals who possess or are applying for visas, parole, and entry permits, are not unjustly affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Visa and entry permits have limited validity periods, and many applicants will see their visa or entry permits expire as a direct result of the pandemic so extending validity periods and deadlines that will pass before the end of the current global pandemic and travel restrictions are critical.

Support for Farmworker Policy Priorities During COVID-19 Pandemic

Hispanic Federation is proud to join in urging Congress to implement policy priorities and recommendations related to farmworkers and the COVID-19 pandemic. The work of farmworkers is critical as they feed the world, but neither farmworkers nor their labor is properly valued. We must ensure they are not forgotten or left behind as political leaders take swift measures to contain the outbreak and save lives.

Legal Access in Immigration Detention and Immigration Courts During COVID-19 Pandemic

During the coronavirus crisis, Hispanic Federation joins in urging for the immediate implementation of remote legal access and videoconferencing between individuals detained in ICE custody and legal representation. This recommendation is in light of the decision by EOIR and ICE to continue detention and docketing practices that put people’s health at risk.
